The last few days have brought us back to the summer days of July. This weather meant that we were able to make much faster progress with our aeration operations. A nice helping hand from Mother Nature for once.
We haven't quite finished aerating our fairways at Le Maître. A mechanical failure broke our momentum. We'll be able to complete it next week.
On the La Bête side, we finalized the topdressing of the tees with sand. This technique dilutes the thatch which is still present. The sensation of walking on a beautiful carpet may seem pleasant and healthy, but it's quite the opposite. Many problems can arise with all that thatch.
The strategy for the fairway #16 at Le Maître has been decided. We are going to have sod installed on the areas surrounding the catch basins. This is the area most affected by the water left by the flood. Everything else around the periphery of the most damaged areas will be reseeded with a few cultivars of bent grass and fine fescue. Heavy topdressing will follow, and we are happy to see some green sprouts already present.
Upcoming maintenance
- Laying sod
- Picking up leaves and debris left by trees
