We continued our work to improve the playing surfaces by reseeding sections of the fairways that had been damaged. Maintenance also went smoothly for member events, despite the heavy rains of the past week.
However, it is a challenge to increase green speed when the greens are waterlogged or when moisture levels remain high. Our strategy, therefore, is to check the moisture content of the greens daily using a moisture meter. We aim to water as little as possible and extend the intervals between waterings to the acceptable limit to maintain the health of the turf.
We’ve also added a brushing routine to the greens to lift the grass before mowing. This is followed by a double cut in opposite directions, then rolling. This combination allows us to achieve excellent results, even under current conditions.
This week was also devoted to sharpening the mower blades. This is an essential practice for achieving a precise and clean cut, while promoting turf health.
Green Topdressing
For your information, green topdressing will be carried out according to the following schedule:
Monday: Le Maître
Tuesday: La Bête
However, topdressing will be postponed in case of rain.
On the day of topdressing, the greens will be mowed before the sand is applied. The following day, no mowing will take place. The greens will only be rolled to avoid picking up the freshly applied sand and to limit premature wear on the mower units.
These measures are part of our maintenance strategy to preserve the quality of the playing surfaces while promoting the long-term health of the turf.
