The weeks go by, but no two are alike.
After a long period of heat, water shortages, and days when irrigation was our top priority, the rainy week we’ve just gone through has completely changed the situation. For the past few years, the weather has been constantly challenging us: bouts of intense heat, heavy rains, violent thunderstorms and even tornadoes. We must continually adapt to these extreme conditions.
Fortunately, despite the heavy rainfall, neither course sustained any major damage. With our irrigation reservoir filled to capacity to power the temporary pump, combined with the heavy rainfall, the lake at hole #3 on the Maître course even overflowed. That’s a nice problem to have. Our irrigation water supply is now well replenished, and after a few watering cycles, the level will gradually return to normal.
Over the past week, we’ve also prepared the courses for Ladies’ Day and their guests at Le Maître. Meanwhile, La Bête is hosting the Men’s Night for the first time this season.
As for improvements, a drainage project was completed on hole #9 at La Bête to reduce water accumulation after heavy rains. This work will help improve playing conditions throughout the season.
Upcoming Maintenance
- Treatment for white grubs in tall grass (along the edges of the fairways and greens).
- Topdressing of the greens.
- Overseeding of weaker areas along the fairways.
