Turf
23 MAY 2025
The cold, wet temperatures of spring 2025, particularly in mid-May, have a direct influence on the planning and pace of our work on the golf course.
Machinery weight and soil structure
Cold, wet weather makes the soil more waterlogged, especially on the surface. Operating heavy machinery under these conditions can :
- excessively compact the soil,
- damage the root structure of the turf,
- and slow vegetative recovery in affected areas.
Less mowing = more latitude
Fortunately, cool temperatures slow grass growth, which :
- reduces the frequency of mowing required,
- frees up time and resources for other field work,
- and minimizes mechanical stress on grass that is still fragile after winter.
These weather conditions, while imperfect for certain tasks, provide us with a strategic window of opportunity to proceed cautiously with structural projects, while preserving the health of the turf and the stability of the soil.
We remain flexible and strategic in our approach, to guarantee a solid, long-lasting season.
Water distribution below the bridge of hole #12 - Use of a repair sleeve and clamps
As part of the maintenance work on the irrigation network below the bridge of hole #12, a repair was carried out on a pipe damaged or weakened by frost and pressure.
This section is more vulnerable to soil movement, vibration and thermal variations, which can lead to cracking or joint loosening.
Repair method
- Repair sleeve
- A repair sleeve is installed around the pipe to cover the crack or weakened section.
- This sleeve acts as a reinforcing sheath, restoring the pipe's tightness and structural pressure without requiring complete replacement.
- Clamps
- Two high-pressure clamps have been installed at each end of the sleeve.
- Their role is to hold the sleeve firmly in place,
- ensure a reliable mechanical seal
- and prevent any slippage or movement in the event of pressure variations in the pipe.
Upcoming maintenance
- light topdressing on the greens
- Progress on advanced teeing project on hole N01
- Restructuring of a few targeted traps at Le Maître and La Bête
