Turf
23 AUG 2024
As discussed last week in my newsletter, I didn't want to talk too much about the weather. Unfortunately, it forces me to touch on the subject. After the flood and the over 150 millimeter of water that forced us to close the courses, the rain continues to do its work. The soils are completely saturated and can take no more. The accumulation of water on the entire course means that we are obliged to give you cart restrictions despite the light rain. I have no choice but to take these precautions for the well-being of the courses. Cart traffic will damage the turf as well as the soil structure.
Concerning #16 at Le Maître
We're doing everything we can to get you back on your full hole Par 5. We understand that it is not ideal to change it to a Par 3, and we want it to make it as short-lasting as possible. The pump works during the day to remove as much water as possible. It decreases slowly, but excess rainfall means we're treading water for a while. Once all the water has been removed, we'll have to make several gradual cuts in the fairway, because although the grass is in the water, it's still growing. We won't be able to cut it to the same height as the rest of our fairways, since grass accepts a cut of a third of its leaf. Beyond this height, the plant yellows or dies.
Upcoming Maintenance.
- Application of fungicide to dollar spot
- Preparation of damaged surfaces along paths
- Fertilization
