Turf Work Update

Here is an overview of the work completed this week to continue improving our courses and prepare the courses for the rest of the season.

At Le Maître

Our team has focused their efforts on several key areas:

  • Completion of the verticut on the fairways to improve turf quality and playing conditions.
  • Continue the aeration, seeding, and top dressing of the approaches and collection areas around the greens.
  • Continuing to clean up areas damaged by grubs and reseeding the affected sections.
  • Applying a preventive treatment against grubs on all bentgrass surfaces to protect the course from future generations of pests.
  • Cleaning and maintaining sprinklers to ensure optimal irrigation.

At La Bête

After completing work on the cart path and resetting and reinforcing the bridge, we were finally able to restore irrigation service to this section of the course. This line is particularly important as it completes the water supply loop for the entire course.

Unfortunately, a new break occurred in a pipe located higher up the slope. The repair required the use of an excavator to access the area and fix the problem quickly.

Work completed at La Bête this week includes:

  • Finalization and programming of the new pumping station.
  • Repair of a 6-inch main line near the 9th hole.
  • Continued cleanup and restoration of areas damaged by white grubs, followed by seeding of the affected areas

Green Maintenance at Le Maître

On Tuesday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 17, we will be aerating the greens at Le Maître. Work will be carried out at a rate of 9 holes per morning to minimize disruption to play.

The work will include the following steps:

  • Core aeration ¼’’;
  • Core collection;
  • Heavy topdressing;
  • Light brushing;
  • Cleaning the surfaces with a blower;
  • Seeding;
  • Rolling the greens;
  • Watering.

This operation is essential for maintaining the health of the greens, improving drainage, promoting root growth, and enhancing the long-term quality of the playing surfaces.

It will be particularly beneficial for the green on hole No. 5. Several of you have mentioned that this green is currently slower than the others, and you are absolutely right. Following the sod installation carried out at the start of the season, we had to maintain a slightly higher cutting height to promote its establishment.  Aeration and topdressing will allow us to improve the surface’s levelness and gradually lower the cutting height. Our goal is to achieve a speed more consistent with the other greens on the course while ensuring the health and longevity of this surface.

Although some unforeseen issues continue to arise, our teams are working diligently to improve playing conditions. We are already seeing encouraging signs of improvement in several areas and will continue our efforts to provide you with the best possible conditions.
