A Busy First Week

We’re already wrapping up our first week of the season, and the whole team is gradually getting into our in-season routine.  As we do every spring, we must juggle the intensive spring maintenance work and tackle the many unexpected issues.

Pumping Water at Hole 16 on Le Maître

The work to pump water off hole 16 is continuing. The water level is slowly dropping, but many scattered showers are slowing down operations.

To speed up the process and complete the work more rapidly, a second pump will be installed.

Repairing the bridge at Hole 9 on La Bête

The bridge at Hole 9 on La Bête was secured and reinforced this week. This is a major undertaking, as access to the area is extremely limited for heavy machinery, which greatly complicates the work.

A temporary road had to be built to allow trucks and equipment to access the site. If all goes as planned, everything should be fully operational as early as next weekend.

Daily Course Operations

We are now well into our in-season daily maintenance routine. This week, fertilizer was applied to the greens and tees to promote healthy spring growth, fairway fertilizer will follow next week.

Weed control treatment has also been applied. To allow the treatment to work effectively, we must temporarily delay mowing the tall grass. Starting next week, a full mowing will be performed on both courses to refresh the overall appearance.

Start of dethatching on fairways and tees

Dethatching the fairways and tees will begin next week at Le Maître before continuing at La Bête.

This operation is important for improving air circulation in the soil, reducing the accumulation of organic matter, and promoting better turf health throughout the season.
