Turf
02 AUG 2024
It's hard to believe, but we're already halfway through the season. Time goes by far too quickly! Fortunately, the second half is often more beautiful and pleasant. We've had another week of very high humidity. It's hard on the staff, the golfers and, of course, the turf.
The mid-season results are positive. We've succeeded in a number of projects, both for Le Maitre and for La Bete. The plan drawn up at the start of the season is being adhered to, although we are constantly adjusting.
Of course, we will continue to improve the bunkers. We've taken a break because after laying new sod, it needs special attention. I don't like to do too many separate areas, this allows us to take good care of the surface so that it lasts. Seeding the weaker areas in the fairways and tees is another goal we will be attacking. With the heat of the last few weeks, many dry areas have been created. Adding seed to these areas will help them recover more quickly.
For best results, August and September are good times to seed grass. It will help fill in bald spots and weaker areas, and the weather is a little milder than in July. Warm and humid enough to germinate seedlings without drying them out too quickly.
Maintenance to come.
- Seeding Fairway
- Fertilization and fungicide application for disease
- Cleaning around water features
