We've been looking forward to warm weather so that our courses can make progress. The week we had was beyond our expectations and even much warmer than average. The weather forced us to change our objectives. There were several irrigation failures and sprinkler adjustments. Watering was a big part of our work this week. A lot of manual watering was carried out on the greens and numerous areas on the fairways and tees. Watering by hand allows us to apply the right amount of water in the right place. We still managed to do our weekly cultural practices on each course.
A word about Bunker
I'm aware that bunkers are an irritant for many of you. We have drawn up a precise plan to make progress on this subject in the short term, but at present we are doing our utmost to level them as often as possible. A lot of time is spent weeding and removing debris. Afterwards, we'll adjust the sand thickness in each bunker and redo the shapes for better sand management.
Application of wetting agent to greens
We began the wetting agent program on the greens and on a few problem areas in the fairways. The application of a wetting agent on golf greens improves water management and prevent soil hydrophobicity in hot, dry weather. Basically, this product helps us avoid or minimize dry spots. For best results this must be done preventatively by regularly applying the wetting agent suited to our turf and soil characteristics before dry spots become visible.
