10 MAY 2024

Dear members,

The 2024 season is finally underway. We're delighted to welcome you and wish you the best of golf.

You will have noticed that the first greens of the Le Maître course have some wounds caused by a winter fungal disease called pink snow mould. We have already seeded these areas. Cold temperatures have slowed germination, but they will close up soon.

Another detail you may have noticed is located on the green of #16. Unfortunately, a hydraulic leak on the greens roller burnt the turf. Luckily for us, the spill occurred in the contour and was concentrated in a single area. We'll have to remove the contaminated sand and lay sod.

Preventive treatment of crabgrass was carried out this week. It is difficult to control this weed, as it is not visible in spring. Last year, we had to draw up a map of the area to be treated. What makes this practice so difficult is to apply the product in the first two phases of germination to prevent it from blooming and taking the place of the existing grass. These phases occur in the first weeks of May.

What is crabgrass in a nutshell?

Crabgrass is an annual weed that establishes itself in lawns through seed. Its leaves are pale green, turning reddish or purple in late summer. It is green in color, similar to grass, but unlike grass, it is undesirable.

I look forward to seeing you on the course. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Maintenance to come.

  • Topdressing greens
  • Weed treatment
  • Preparing for the opening of La Bête (May 16)
