Congratulations - Spotlight on a Staff Member
Do you know the Administrative Assistant at Le Maître Golf Club?
Let me introduce her: Stéphanie Woods.
Why are we talking about her today?
Stéphanie just achieved a remarkable feat by running the P’tit Train du Nord Marathon last Sunday!
You might say that plenty of people manage to complete the 42.2 km of a marathon, but do you know anyone who did it at age 35—only two years after taking up running and training?
Stéphanie is the mother of Léo, her five-year-old son, and has been working full-time at the club for six years now. For the past nine months, she has been getting up at 5:00 a.m., six days a week, to train. Her greatest qualities include her discipline, her strength of character, and her determination. When she sets her mind to a goal, nothing can stop her.
Three years ago, she was a smoker, but one day she decided enough was enough and started running. She took to it immediately; she loves the sense of freedom, the chance to be alone with her thoughts, and the physical exertion. She decided to take running seriously: she hired a coach, set personal goals, and signed up for the Tremblant Half-Marathon.
Stéphanie is a special athlete. She only started playing golf this year, yet she hits her driver 220 yards. Her talent is extraordinary. She possesses exceptional coordination, so it comes as no surprise that she is developing her running skills so rapidly. In just her second marathon since embarking on this journey, she crossed the finish line last Sunday with a time of 3:18:50 and an average pace of 4:43 min/km. She finished 10th in the 35–39 age group. This performance has qualified her for one of the world's six major marathons: the 2028 Boston Marathon!
She is taking a week off training to recover and will soon resume the activities that will undoubtedly lead to a remarkable performance in Boston.
Say hello when you walk past her office in the hallway outside the shop!
