LETTER TO GOLFERS: BEFORE THE SEASON FLIES BY TOO QUICKLY

Golfers, it’s already September.

Just a few months ago, the whole season lay ahead of us: the first rounds, the tournaments, the long June evenings, and all those goals we’d set for ourselves.

Lowering your handicap. Gaining a few yards. Improving your putting. Maybe even playing the best season of your life.

And now September is here.

Some of you have reached your goals. Others, not quite. But deep down, is that really how we should measure a golf season?

What do you remember from the past few months?

A few great shots, certainly. But also a beautiful morning, a fit of laughter with your playing partners, a drink on the patio, a sunset over the course.

So, for the weeks that remain, here’s a simple idea:

Don’t play golf for later. Play it for right now.

Not just for your handicap or the next match. Play for today’s round, too.

Golf teaches us that we can never go back and replay the previous shot. We can only play the next one.

And we still have plenty left to play this season.

So let’s make the most of it. Let’s watch the colors change. Let’s congratulate others on their great shots. Let’s laugh at our own when they go the wrong way.

Make birdies if you can.

Make bogeys if you must.

But above all, make memories.

And enjoy every round.

There’s still a lot of time left to play … but quite a bit less than there was in the spring.
